How Long Does a Camper Van Conversion Take?

The lead time for a Titan build, the four stages from deposit to delivery, and what moves the date.

How long does a camper van conversion take? Our current lead time is 4–12 weeks, depending on model and options. Chassis availability and the build queue move it, so your estimate confirms the date for your build. The time goes on four stages: designing and pricing your build, getting the van to the shop, production in Boulder, and a walkthrough when you pick it up. The production stage itself, once your van is on our floor, is 4 to 8 weeks depending on the model, as our build-time guide explains. If you would rather drive away sooner, our camper vans for sale are finished builds.

Deposit to delivery

The Four Stages of a Titan Build

1. Design and quote

Design Your Van prices your model, chassis and options line by line. We review it with you and come back with your estimate and the current lead time. A $3,000 retainer deposit then holds your build slot. This stage moves at your pace.

2. The van

Titan prices are for the conversion, so you supply the Sprinter or Transit, new or used. A van you already own, or one from dealer stock, is the quickest start.

3. Production

Your van is built in our Boulder shop, where most of the components are designed and made in-house. Your own build-progress link shows each stage as it is reached, with photos from the shop floor.

4. Pickup

You choose the day and hour from the delivery times we open, then spend about an hour at the shop while a Titan Vans team member walks you through every system before you drive away.

What Moves the Date

  • Your model and options. The range runs 4–12 weeks, depending on model and options; a larger build with more options sits toward the longer end.
  • The van. A factory order that slips moves everything behind it. A van in hand is the biggest shortcut.
  • When you place the deposit. Builds start in order, so the retainer deposit sets your place on the production calendar, and the lead time on your estimate is the one that counts.
  • Late changes. Settle the large options at the design stage; the smaller comforts can be added at our service center later, because Titan components are designed to be removable and upgradable.

Starting prices for every model, from $44,995 for the Classic 144, are on the camper van prices page. Weighing a used van against a new build? See used camper van vs a new conversion.

Questions

Build Timeline Questions

How long does a camper van conversion take?

Our current lead time is 4–12 weeks, depending on model and options. Chassis availability and the build queue move it, so your estimate confirms the date for your build. If you would rather not wait, our camper vans for sale are finished builds, and each listing shows when its van is available.

Does the lead time include getting the van?

Titan prices are for the conversion, so you supply the Sprinter or Transit. A van you already own, or one in dealer stock, is the quickest start; a factory order that arrives late moves the build date with it.

How do I hold a build slot?

With a $3,000 retainer deposit, which secures your slot on our production calendar and is credited toward the total for your build. Your estimate is finalized and approved before the rest is due, on the schedule in the build agreement you sign.

Can I follow my build while it is in the shop?

Yes. Every order has its own build-progress link: you see each stage as it is reached, the photos from the shop floor, and your estimate and agreement in one place.

How long does pickup take?

Plan on about an hour at the shop. You pick the day and hour from the delivery times we open, and a Titan Vans team member walks you through your van, its systems and its options before you drive away.

Do options make the build take longer?

They can: the range depends on the model and the options you choose. Decide on the large options, like a pop top or an off-road package, when you design the van. Smaller comforts can be added later at our service center, since Titan components are designed to be removable and upgradable.
