Dimensions
Sprinter 170 Interior Dimensions
Inside a high-roof Sprinter 170, Mercedes-Benz lists 173 inches of floor length behind the cab, 79 inches of standing height and 70 inches of width at the floor, with 488 cubic feet of cargo volume; the 170 EXT stretches the floor to 189 inches and the volume to 533 cubic feet (2026 Sprinter Cargo Van specifications, mbvans.com). After insulation, flooring and cabinets, the room you have left depends on the layout: the Classic 170 keeps its 76" by 67" mattress on a Bi-Slide bed across the rear, the Metis 170 its 78" x 68" mattress on a Murphy bed that stows for the garage, and the Ultra 170 its 78" x 74" mattress beside the indoor shower. We confirm the finished figures for your build with you rather than publish one number for all three.
144 or 170
Sprinter 144 or 170: Which Is Right for You?
Choose a Sprinter 144 if you want easy parking and a daily driver. Choose the 170 if you want an indoor shower and toilet, a bed and a lounge that are both set up at once, or room for the people and gear you bring along: the Classic 170 seats up to 9. By Mercedes-Benz's figures the 170 is 40 inches (about 3 ft 4 in) longer overall than the 144 (274 in against 234 in) and carries 40 more inches of floor behind the cab (173 in against 133 in), which matters most in parking lots and tight campsites. The Classic, the Metis and the Ultra are each built on both wheelbases, so the choice is about the van, not the layout family.
Questions
Sprinter 170 Camper Van FAQ
What is the longest Sprinter van?
The Sprinter 170 EXT, at 290 inches overall by Mercedes-Benz's published figure, against 274 inches for the standard 170 and 234 inches for the 144. Titan builds the Classic 170, Metis 170 and Ultra 170 on the Sprinter 170, and the same layouts fit the 170 EXT.
Can you get a Sprinter 170 camper van with a shower?
Yes. The Ultra 170, our Sprinter camper van with a shower, has an indoor shower as standard, an expandable stall with a teak floor mat and integrated hot air that doubles as a sauna, plus a cassette toilet, from $183,995. The Metis 170 includes the cassette toilet and a rear spray-down shower; the Classic 170 offers the toilet as an option.
How many people can a Sprinter 170 camper van sleep?
In a Titan build, up to 5 in the Classic 170, up to 6 in the Metis 170 and up to 5 in the Ultra 170, depending on the bed and the sleeping options you choose. The High Roof Pop Top option is designed to sleep two adults up top. For seats, the Classic 170 carries up to 9 and the Metis 170 and Ultra 170 up to 4.
Is a Sprinter 170 hard to drive and park?
It drives like a van, not an RV, but it is a long one: Mercedes-Benz lists the 170 at 274 inches (22 ft 10 in) long and 107 inches (8 ft 11 in) tall, so it overhangs a standard parking space, will not fit most home garages or parking structures, and needs a wider turn than the 144. If you park in town every day, the Sprinter 144 is the easier van to live with.
How much does a Sprinter 170 conversion cost?
Titan Sprinter 170 conversions run from $135,995 to $183,995: $135,995 for the Classic 170, $169,995 for the Metis 170 and $183,995 for the Ultra 170 (2027 model year). Prices include the van, and options are priced on top. Design Your Van gives you a line-item price for your exact build.
