For most people, a high-roof Mercedes Sprinter or Ford Transit is the best van for a camper conversion. Choose the ProMaster for the widest floor at a lower price, and the electric ID. Buzz if you want a compact, weekend-friendly camper rather than a full-size van.

Which one fits you
Sprinter: you want diesel range, AWD or 4x4, and resale value. Transit: you want the most headroom and lower ownership costs, and gas in cold weather. ProMaster: you want a wide, flat floor and the lowest entry price. It's front-wheel drive only. ID. Buzz: you want an electric camper for weekends. Its range is about 234 miles, so plan charging. What to look for in the van itself

High roof. If you want to stand up, don't compromise.
